About us

Rissalah College was established in January 1997. During that time the school operated on two campuses: one at Greenacre, and the other at Miller which was leased for the duration of one year. During January 1998, both campuses merged into one and became operational at Westbridge Centre, Villawood under the new name of Rissalah College Pty Ltd. On 13th May 1999 we relocated Rissalah College to 291 Haldon St Lakemba.

The school philosophy is that students should strive for excellence, equity and a strong moral ethos. We aim to provide a positive, stimulating and accepting environment in which students can develop individual qualities and abilities without strong or detrimental peer pressure.

We place emphasis on the Six Key Learning Areas:

- English
- Mathematics
- Science and Technology
- Human Society and its Environment
- Creative Arts
- PD/H/PE

We offer extra curriculum studies in:

- Islamic Studies
- Quranic Recitation
- Arabic Language

Rissalah College has a very broad cultural and religious mix that works to develop tolerance of all cultural and religious ethos.

Mission Statement

Our vision is for Rissalah College to be the provider of the best, comprehensive education program in all the six Key Learning Areas stipulated by the Board of Studies NSW and linked with a strong Islamic school spirit for all who attend the school. Hence our mission is to be an active member of the community, committed to providing a supportive environment in which all members will attain their full potential through the provision of appropriate teaching and learning opportunities.

The school will work in harmony with parents and the community to produce students who are able to function within a changing society.

Welfare and Discipline Policies

Incorporated in the day to day operation of the school is a policy statement that aims to promote student achievement and performance through an award system K-6. The discipline system assists students in being aware that inappropriate behaviours have a consequence. Specific programs in Child Protection, Drug Education, Sun Smart, and Life Education have all been supportive and valued by students and the community. Student Representative Council has contributed to school improvement programs and raised money for Muslim Aid Australia.

Aboriginal Education

Students are involved in extending their knowledge and understanding about Australia's Aborigines throughout the year. Through class programs in Human Society and its Environment and Personal Development, students explore and discuss issues of prejudice, ethnic pride and respect.

Gender Policy

A conscious effort is made to ensure that there are an equal number of boys and girls in each class or as close to equal as possible.
During sports and at Athletic Carnivals, opportunities are provided for both boys and girls in all individual and team events available for competition.
